Konto Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026-08-31
1. Agreement and scope
These Terms of Service govern your use of Konto, including local-only use of the app and any optional online, account-backed, synchronization, shared-business, or related services you choose to use. By using Konto, or by creating or signing in to a Konto user account when you choose to use online features, you agree to these Terms. If you use Konto for a business or other organization, you confirm that you are authorized to act for that organization where required.
2. What Konto provides
Konto is an offline-first accounting and business-record management application. Features may include accounts, sales and purchases, transactions, debts and loans, payments, inventory, products, parties and contacts, business memberships, reporting, database export and import, offline exchange through KXP, notifications, optional online services, and optional synchronization across authorized devices. Konto is not a bank, payment processor, accountant, tax adviser, lawyer, or financial adviser. Calculations and reports depend on the information entered into the app, so you remain responsible for reviewing important records and complying with laws that apply to you or your business.
3. Accounts and security
You do not need to enable an online Konto user account merely to keep local bookkeeping records on your device. If you choose account-backed or other online features, Konto may authenticate you using a phone number or email address and verification codes, and may register trusted devices, sessions, or cryptographic device information to protect access and synchronization. You must provide information you are entitled to use, keep your device and authentication access reasonably secure, and use only accounts and business workspaces you are authorized to access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account to the extent permitted by applicable law.
4. Business workspaces and shared records
Shared business workspaces are an optional online capability. If you enable or join one, authorized members can see and change business records according to their role and permissions. Business owners and authorized administrators are responsible for granting appropriate access. Records in a shared workspace form part of that business history and may remain available to other authorized members after one user leaves the business or deletes a personal Konto user account when retaining the records is necessary for accounting continuity, audit history, legal obligations, dispute resolution, or the rights of other members.
5. Your content
You retain your rights in the business data, records, notes, images, contact details, and other content you create or import in Konto. Local-only content remains on your device unless you choose a feature that transmits it or deliberately export or share it. For content that you choose to transmit through an online Konto feature, you grant Konto only the limited rights needed to host, process, transmit, store, reproduce, and secure that content for the purpose of operating the feature you requested, such as synchronization, restoration, sharing, or shared-business access. You must have the right to enter or share personal or business information about customers, suppliers, contacts, team members, or other people.
6. Device permissions, exports, and sharing
Some features are optional and require device permissions, such as contacts, camera or photos, notifications, or biometric authentication. Konto uses those permissions only for the feature you choose. When you export a database, share a KXP file or QR code, send information to another person, or save content through a third-party destination, you control that disclosure and are responsible for choosing an appropriate recipient and destination.
7. Acceptable use
You may not use Konto to violate law or the rights of others, impersonate another person, gain unauthorized access, distribute malware, interfere with the service or another user, bypass security or permission controls, or intentionally corrupt synchronized business data. You may not reverse engineer or circumvent technical protections except where applicable law expressly allows it.
8. Offline-first use and optional online services
Konto is designed to be offline-first. Core bookkeeping, accounting, inventory, reporting, and record-management features are designed to operate with data stored locally on your device. Online features are optional. They may include account-backed services, multi-device synchronization, shared business workspaces, server-backed recovery, online lookups, or other features that are clearly dependent on a network service.
If you use Konto in local-only mode, do not enable or use online features, and do not deliberately export, share, or send data, Konto does not transmit your local business and accounting records from your device to Konto backend infrastructure or service providers. When you choose an online feature, only the information reasonably necessary to provide that feature should be transmitted. Network-dependent features can be unavailable or delayed while offline, but local records remain available subject to the state of your device and local storage. You should keep appropriate local exports or backups for your needs.
9. Account deletion
This section applies if you create or enable a Konto user account that exists on Konto online services. You can initiate deletion of that Konto user account from within the app. After you confirm deletion, the account enters a 30-day grace period. During this 30-day grace period, you can cancel the deletion request and restore the account. When the grace period ends, deletion becomes permanent and Konto deletes or de-identifies the account and associated personal data, except information that must be retained for legitimate legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, audit, or integrity purposes, and except shared business records that must remain available to other authorized members or the business itself. If you use Konto only locally without an online Konto user account, there is no remote Konto user account to delete. Deleting a financial account, cash account, bank account, or other bookkeeping record inside a business is different from deleting a Konto user account.
10. Suspension and termination
Konto may restrict or suspend access to online services when reasonably necessary to protect users, business data, service security, or legal compliance, including in response to material violations of these Terms or suspected unauthorized access. Where practical and lawful, restrictions will be proportionate to the issue. Such a restriction does not by itself erase local records already stored on your device. You may stop using Konto at any time and, if you have an online Konto user account, may use the in-app account deletion process described above.
11. Intellectual property and app license
Konto software, branding, designs, and service technology are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of Konto technology to you and do not take ownership of your content from you. On iOS, the license to the downloaded application is also subject to the applicable Apple App Store terms and the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These Terms govern your use of Konto and any Konto services in addition to that application license.
12. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Konto is provided on an as-available basis and we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, a particular business outcome, or that app-generated information is a substitute for professional advice. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights. To the extent the law permits, Konto is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses caused by circumstances outside reasonable control or by decisions made solely from unverified user-entered data.
13. Changes to Konto or these Terms
Konto may add, change, or retire features as the app and optional services evolve. We may update these Terms when the product, law, or our practices change. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate in-app, store-listing, or other available notice before they take effect where required by law. Continued use after an updated effective date constitutes acceptance only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent using the support or contact method made available inside Konto or in the official App Store listing.
